Vietnamese National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man recently met with a Chinese delegation led by Yang Wanming, president of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, in Beijing. The meeting, held on October 12, focused on enhancing people-to-people exchanges as a means to strengthen the longstanding relations between Vietnam and China.
Tran Thanh Man underscored the significant development in bilateral ties, advocating for more profound, practical, and sustainable cooperation. He commended the role of friendship organizations in fostering connections among communities, businesses, scholars, young individuals, and cultural groups from both nations. The Vietnamese leader also encouraged initiatives like the Vietnam-China People’s Forum, the Border People’s Friendship Festival, and youth exchange programs to continue facilitating collaboration.
Looking forward to the 2026–2027 Vietnam-China Year of Tourism Cooperation, Tran Thanh Man stressed the importance of expanding cultural and tourism partnerships. He called for increased exchanges between local communities, historical sites, and cultural destinations, aiming to provide tangible benefits for people in both countries.
Furthermore, he urged friendship organizations, researchers, and media representatives to disseminate accurate information and share positive narratives of bilateral cooperation. This, he noted, would help younger generations gain a better understanding of the historical relationship between the two nations.
Yang Wanming reaffirmed the commitment of the Chinese association to bolster the social foundations of the countries’ relationship. He expressed the organization’s dedication to promoting cultural exchanges, mutual understanding, and cooperation, aligning with the shared objectives of both nations’ leadership.
The discussions highlighted the importance of maintaining traditional friendship while expanding people-to-people engagement to support stable and long-term Vietnam-China relations.
