During his visit to Brunei for Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah’s 80th birthday celebrations, Singapore’s Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong and the Sultan emphasized their dedication to enhancing the relationship between their two nations. The two leaders underscored the importance of upcoming anniversaries, such as the 50th anniversary of their defense cooperation set for 2026 and the 60th anniversary of the Currency Interchangeability Agreement in 2027, as touchpoints for their ongoing collaborative efforts.

The discussions between Lee and the Sultan were broad, covering potential expansions in several key areas. They explored opportunities for enhanced cooperation in energy, food security, and supply chain resilience, which are critical issues in today’s interconnected world.
