Vietnam and Côte d’Ivoire have pledged to enhance their bilateral relations, focusing on boosting cooperation in trade, investment, and various other crucial sectors. Vietnamese leader Tô Lâm emphasized the strengthening bond between the two countries, highlighting that Côte d’Ivoire became Vietnam’s leading trading partner in Africa in 2025. He advocated for the expansion of trade beyond traditional commodities like cashew nuts and rice, urging for more diversified economic collaboration.
The Vietnamese government is keen on fostering investment cooperation in a wide array of sectors, including agriculture, telecommunications, oil and gas, digital transformation, cybersecurity, infrastructure, mineral processing, and electric vehicles. This broad approach aims to deepen economic ties and promote sustainable development in both nations.
On the other side, Côte d’Ivoire has shown a strong interest in attracting Vietnamese enterprises and extending cooperative efforts across the West African region. This initiative aligns with their desire to cultivate a robust economic partnership that can drive growth and innovation across various industries.
Additionally, both countries are exploring ways to reinforce parliamentary exchanges, educational initiatives, workforce development, and people-to-people connections. These efforts are seen as essential components in building a comprehensive partnership that goes beyond economic interests, fostering mutual understanding and shared growth.
