German Festival in Hà Nội Marks 50 Years of Việt Nam–Germany Friendship

HÀ NỘI — The German Festival (Deutschlandfest) opened by Hoàn Kiếm Lake on October 17, celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations between Việt Nam and Germany (1975–2025). Held under the theme “Celebrating Joint Development Cooperation,” the three-day event showcases the two nations’ strong ties in culture, education, and sustainable development.
The opening ceremony gathered German Ambassador Helga Margarete Barth, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Lê Thị Thu Hằng, and representatives from ministries, international organizations, and the business community. Ambassador Barth praised Germany’s long-term cooperation with Việt Nam in social welfare, climate action, and green growth, reaffirming Berlin’s commitment to supporting Việt Nam’s sustainable future.
Deputy Minister Hằng highlighted the contributions of nearly 40 German organizations and enterprises, including representatives from Bremen, Hessen, and Thuringia. She emphasized that the event reflects a flourishing partnership grounded in shared values and cooperation across key sectors such as education, technology, and cultural exchange.
Throughout the festival, visitors can enjoy German music, food, and cultural exhibitions, as well as interactive displays showcasing bilateral achievements in renewable energy, environmental protection, and innovation. The festival not only commemorates five decades of friendship but also sets the stage for future collaboration in education, technology, and sustainable growth.
