During a recent meeting with Hà Nội’s leadership, Vietnam’s Party General Secretary and State President Tô Lâm emphasized the importance of achieving faster economic growth for the city while maintaining a focus on sustainable development and enhancing the quality of life for its residents. His remarks highlighted the progress Hà Nội has made in various areas, including institutional reforms, infrastructure improvements, and administrative advancements.
Despite these achievements, Tô Lâm pointed out several challenges that continue to hinder the city’s growth. He noted that economic expansion has been slower than anticipated, resources remain underutilized, and key urban development projects are experiencing delays. Addressing these issues, he urged city authorities to mobilize idle resources, prioritize the acceleration of crucial infrastructure projects, and bolster support for businesses, tourism, and innovation.
In addition to economic growth, Tô Lâm called for improvements in public services, emphasizing the need to alleviate traffic congestion, combat pollution, and expand housing options. He stressed the importance of investing in education and healthcare, as well as advancing digital transformation to better serve the community and sustain long-term development goals.
Hà Nội has set an ambitious target to achieve an 11% growth rate in Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) by 2026. This goal follows a strong performance in the first half of the current year, where the city’s economy grew by 8.22%, surpassing the national average. The city’s leadership is now tasked with implementing strategies to maintain this momentum while addressing the challenges outlined by Tô Lâm.
