As Vietnam and Qatar continue to foster a robust partnership, the recent National Day celebration in Doha underscored the deepening ties between the two nations. These ties, strengthened over three decades of diplomatic relations, encompass a wide array of sectors including trade, investment, and energy. The event celebrated Vietnam’s 81st National Day and highlighted the importance of peace and dialogue in international cooperation.
Held in the Qatari capital, the celebration drew the participation of senior Qatari officials, diplomats, and business leaders, reflecting the significance of the relationship between these two countries. Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar, Nguyen Huy Hiep, emphasized Vietnam’s impressive development trajectory and the growing connections with Qatar and other global partners.
Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1993, Vietnam and Qatar have significantly expanded their cooperation. The bilateral trade between the two countries reached approximately $423 million in 2025, showcasing the increasing business opportunities and economic engagements. This economic collaboration spans various sectors, including aviation, agriculture, healthcare, hospitality, and telecommunications.
High-level exchanges have further cemented this partnership, with notable visits such as that of Qatar’s prime minister to Vietnam in October 2024. Both nations have expressed a mutual interest in continuing to bolster bilateral cooperation and explore new avenues for economic partnerships.
