In a bid to bolster ties between Vietnamese and northeastern Cambodian regions, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyễn Minh Vũ led a delegation to the Cambodian provinces of Stung Treng and Kratie. The visit aimed to enhance cooperation across multiple sectors while evaluating the business activities of Vietnamese companies and the living conditions of the Vietnamese-origin community in these areas.

During discussions with local leaders, both parties explored ways to deepen collaboration in trade, agriculture, infrastructure, energy, and investment. Cambodian officials underscored the strengthening relationship with Vietnamese provinces, facilitated by cooperation agreements, business engagements, and ongoing development initiatives.

Kratie province acknowledged the diplomatic and socio-economic strides made in partnership with Vietnam, including contributions to infrastructure development and collaborative efforts in locating and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who fell during the Cambodian conflict.

Ambassador Nguyễn Minh Vũ commended the role of Vietnamese enterprises engaged in sectors like agriculture, mining, and rubber production in Cambodia, noting that these ventures have bolstered local economic development and reinforced bilateral connections. Stung Treng authorities highlighted the province’s potential for investment in high-tech agriculture and eco-tourism, inviting Vietnamese businesses to explore opportunities in the region.

The ambassador also engaged with representatives of the Vietnamese-origin community, addressing legal and livelihood concerns while urging adherence to local laws and promoting education and sustainable development. With over 200 investment projects amounting to approximately $3 billion, Vietnam stands as one of Cambodia’s largest foreign investors.
